A farmhouse on the Baix Ter plain

The project adapts this two-level farmhouse to current needs, improving comfort and the relationship with the outside. The extension to the north-west facade, on the ground floor, opens the living room to the garden and brings more light, respecting the original volume. This new rectangular volume, with a combination of solids and voids, also functions as a terrace for the first floor.

The access is redefined with a newly created patio that frees the northeast facade and favors natural ventilation, reinforced by a pond surrounded by vegetation. The materials used, such as stone, wood and reed, are linked to the construction tradition of the area, as well as the lime plasters and natural soils. The wooden enclosures, treated with oil and mineral pigments, and traditional structural elements, such as the Catalan vault and wooden beams, give coherence to the intervention and reinforce the original character of the farmhouse.
