Ferran Prats Auquer, Banyoles 1958 – Afterlife 2023
He was the founding partner of the Auquer-Prats studio, together with Lluis Auquer.
He lived much of his life between Banyoles, his hometown in Pla de l'Estany, and Empordà, a region with which he maintained a strong bond and where he eventually settled.
Son of a carpenter-cabinetmaker father and a mother who managed an antiques shop in the same family business.
His passion for construction and architecture was born at a very young age, spending long periods of time in his father's workshop playing with building models and looking at blueprints.
He was always clear that he wanted to dedicate himself to this profession and, thanks to his interest and practice helping him during the summers, he acquired an early knowledge of the systems of representation in plans, construction, dimensions and awareness of this noble material so used in office architecture, wood.
Knowledgeable about his land, the history, traditions, culture and surroundings of Catalonia. Professional sardana player during his youth, respectful and nature lover, mountain hiker who has climbed high peaks. Always curious to discover new places.
All these experiences and concerns influenced his way of understanding architecture, marked by sensitivity in the use of noble materials, the close relationship with the environment and the care for details and finishes.
Appreciated and respected by clients and industrialists, a great master and construction manager, persevering, known for being very patient and making the right decisions.
